Appearing mostly in B-movies until he got his famous role on television, his A-films include: 1943's So Proudly We Hail; 1950's Samson and Delilah; and 1953's From Here To Eternity. In 1951, Robert L. Lippert introduced the world to George Reeves as Superman in the movie Superman and the Mole Men, which was re-edited into two parts and served as the TV series pilot. In his later years, Reeves anguished over being typecast forever as the legendary superhero and committed suicide, although some speculate that he was murdered.
